About
Priyanka Malhotra is an experienced Counselling Psychologist with over 15 years of experience supporting children, young people, adults, and families across various settings—including primary and tertiary education, community and youth mental health services, and private practice.
Pri worked at Monash Health within the Early in Life Mental Health Service until recently, where she provided initial assessments and brief treatment interventions to young people and their families. Her other previous roles have included working as a family counsellor, supporting culturally and linguistically diverse communities with a focus on trauma, school-related challenges, family violence, child-focused parenting, and relationship difficulties. She also has experience within Family Law Counselling, assisting families and children navigating the complexities of separation, divorce, and co-parenting.
Pri has worked with Headspace, the National Youth Mental Health Foundation, delivering psychological support to young people aged 12 to 25 facing a range of emotional and mental health concerns.
An experienced psychologist, Pri opened the doors to her private psychology clinic on the Mornington Peninsula in June 2021 and she has continued her collaborative approach, working closely with schools, general practitioners, paediatricians and allied health professionals to provide comprehensive care for children, adolescents, adults, and families.
Pri is a registered and endorsed Counselling Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a Board-Approved Supervisor for psychologists, registrars pursuing endorsement in Counselling Psychology, and other allied health clinicians.
She believes that the environment in which a child grows up significantly impacts their adulthood. Schools are pervasive environments in children's lives that can dramatically affect their mental health.
Pri works with young people and adults. To support young people's needs, she is interested in working with their parents, schools, and other professionals to understand difficulties with school engagement, reluctance, and attendance and to support neurodivergent children within schools. She works with adults, including relationship counselling, family therapy, and support during life transitions.
Her interests include family therapy, third-culture identity difficulties, and the experience of children attending boarding schools and its influence on early attachment and quality of life.
